Woburn,
MA, December 31, 2009 --
Boston Applied Technologies, Incorporated (BATi), a world leader
in photonic devices, announces the general availability of fused
polarization-maintaining fiber (PM) couplers and polarization-maintaining
(PM) WDM.
BATi's
fused PM fiber components are based on a proprietary fusion and
packaging process that allows the fused PM fiber products have very
low insertion loss and high power handling. This improved attribute
also makes the related PM fiber devices have low temperature dependence,
wide operation wavelength, high-reliability, and avoids the coupling
ratio fluctuation due to the different polarization extinction ratio
for launching source.
Using
this special process, different PM fiber porduct families such as
1x2 (2x2) PM couplers, 1x3 (3x3) PM couplers, 1x4 (2x4) PM couplers,
and 1x2 (2x2) PM WDMs, covering all of different operating wavelengths,
have been developed. These devices will be greatly used in optical
test instrument, fiber optic sensors, fiber amplifiers and fiber
lasers.
